Brick House

Before exchanging vows under the monumental pine tree beside the Brick House, Melissa Mills and Doug Tunnell had spent years working as broadcast journalists; Melissa in the Pacific Northwest for ABC affiliates, Doug as a foreign correspondent for CBS News.

They shared a professional history…but they also shared a deep appreciation for Mother Nature, both having grown up hiking and camping in Oregon’s forests and river valleys.  Doug’s childhood was spent fishing and boating amid the log rafts of the Willamette river, downstream from two belching paper mills at Willamette Falls.  Melissa’s family breathed the crisp, clean air of the mountain town of Ashland, Oregon, on the edge of the Siskyou range.

An intuitive understanding of nature’s awesome complexity but also its extreme fragility were childhood gifts…gifts that sustain Melissa and Doug’s commitment to regenerative farming and wine-growing to this day
