Jolie-Laide
Based in a Sebastopol, CA, Jolie-Laide is a tiny, hands on (and feet) operation making distinct and fascinating wines. Founded originally by Scott Schultz, and later joined by partner Jenny Schultz, the winemaking method is simple: grapes are left whole cluster, foot crushed, and aged in neutral oak with a focus on French varieties.
The approach is a natural one, a less is more ethos. The name Jolie-Laide translates loosely to “Pretty-Ugly”, a French term of endearment to describe something that is unconventionally beautiful.
